I'm having great trouble locating some cheap thrust bearings with the identification 2903 for my ancient Graham Alpine mill/drill.

They are available in USA and Singapore but the postage is ridiculous!

Does anyone on here have any suggestions for where to buy 3 of them?

Take the existing bearings to a bearing dealer here in UK and I'm sure they will have an alternative. John

Brian,

Henderson bearings list it, I was on their website and had a look.

Also I have found Bearingboys to be excellent, whatever type you are looking for you can enter the dimensions and they list various sizes and options.

If you decide to look for an equivalent there appears to be full dimensional et al information here :- **LINK**.

As it came from a Graham Engineering Alpine branded machine I doubt if there is anything terribly special about it. Anything half decent that fits should do fine.

Clive.

I use ABC. They may not, on occasions, be as cheap as the internet but I do know the quality of the items I purchase. They often have a choice of quality - but I rarely ever buy the cheapest!

It’s original known for being an ‘Andrews’ brand - part of INA - mainly for the USA market. Not a standard or popular type/size in U.K..

Clive’s idea link for Nachi made from Europe seems to be okay if it is cheaper than the U.S. source. Local U.K. bearing factors will phone around / check their supplier sites and give you prices too, but I think they will be high considering the unique size reference.

If you can get away with a slight change in ID (17mm instead of 18mm) then more easily available 51203 bearings should work...

Many thanks Bikepete, I've measured the shafts and they are 17mm. The 51230s are 1mm thicker but that shouldn't make any difference.

Some ordered already.

Hi BDH,

As you say,the postage from USA is ridiculous, but the Post Office Service here provides a collection service from both England and America at a very minimal cost. I have used it many times, and I am surprised that Royal Mail do not have something similar to offer.

To give an example, one supplier [who shall be nameless ] gave me a delivery price of £15 for a small order [the value of the goods was £10 ], my Post Office delivered for Euro 3.50,no contest !

Might be worth your while to ask about it!

Its only been this decade the postage prices from US have been outrageous.
Gone are the days when they could use USPS $51 for a plank of wood 3ft+ x 12" x 3" thick.

Thanks Larry never knew that i am in there most days.
Have had collections arranged from far off lands 15 years or more from SA, Canada to NZ, saves any hassle when they get stolen.
Royal Mail pretty good for international parcels best 1 1/2 days to NZ, NL and used to be 3-4 days to US now well over 7 days to as much as 5 months air mail.

Thanks Larry, I have not heard of that service.

Thanks also to all who responded.
