249 forum posts 40 photos | Am looking for mt3 socket inside a straight tube. Googling revealed that capstan sockets are a good search term. The ones I have found seem to be very expensive compared to mt3/mt4 adaptors which are a fairly similar item. Postage to Australia is also a consideration, I expected to be able to find something on ebay for approx 10 - 20 dollars with free postage. I can find sets of 4 in usa for 25 dollars but postage is a killer. Any other search terms I could use ?

![]() 7881 forum posts 397 photos | Chronos has them for 8 quid plus shipping, called MT3 socket. Link here **LINK** I've been through the same thing before, inexplicably they are more expensive than the equivalent tapered adaptor. Maybe not used as much so lower volume = higher price? Course, if you have a capstan lathe, you could crank a few dozen out yourself one afternoon.

If you are lucky, as I was you will come across a MT-3 reamer to finish the taper, saves having to be supper accurate with boring, I just drill i stepped sizes down the hole, then skim the hole using a boring bar to ensure the hole is straight.
