I have known for a couple of months I was going to have to relocate my workshop.

Today was machine moving day. - All went well without breakages or crushed heads or toes.

Single strop for the lathe? I think I would have preferred 2 strops, one on each end of the bed.

Isn't there a hole for a screweye in the middle of the bed?

The Boxford is being moved as per the manufacturer's recommendation.

There is a thread cut in the first web in from of the chuck for a M16 x 2 lifting eye, failing that a single strap is used round the web and through the bed, NOT round it.

The X10 series lathes balance correctly with a single point lift by adjusting the saddle and tailstock to an appropriate position as counterweights.

If you lift an X10 Boxford with two straps round the bed it will bend the leadscrew.

Glad to see you didn't use the same mover I did. He used 2 straps but that wasn't the problem...

Oops

You can't beat having someone with a decent bit of kit andknows how to use it.

The lathe looks perfectly balanced. But dont they just looked lost on the flatbed

Nick can I ask who did the move for you and where they are based, I don't need anything yet but always good to know these things.

Muzzer, same question to you but obviousley for a different reason frown

Thanks,

Ian

I know that one day I will have to move to a house with less upkeep and dread the day I have to move my kit. I will use the guys who delivered my lathe as they where so gentle with everything and could not do more to help. But until the 160 year old house gets to the stage where I can't do the work or afford it my machinery is safe.
