+1

The article on EDM is impressive stuff and will be read properly in due course.

Dunno about the cover photo though, definitely dodgy looking. At least safety goggles are being worn.

I thought this was a particularly good issue too.

I was very pleased to see my workshop has something in common with Andrew's. We both own two tubs of Castrol LM Grease and a pair of Googles!

Yes, an excellent issue.

The silver soldering article has reminded me that there is an alternative to casting. I will try fabricating frames instead of using a "stone" block on the model bellcrank engine I am making. The EDM article has got me thinking about making such a device again (a winter project).

I now await an article on Andrew's Britan lathe.

I guess I must have read it but my copy of MEW235 has long since gone.

I'll add to the pile on - great issue!

The EDM article in particular is of great interest. Way beyond my abilities but very very interesting. Hopefully you'll get more out of him. His F1 sounds like a good canditate for one man and his mill.

Cheers,

Andrew Hutchinson

By the way, did the 'On the Editor's Bench' have anything to do with the issue-number/10? ...

I also read the Silver Solder article and look forward to the continued.

During my younger years i did a reasonable amount of Silver Soldering but alas not much in the last 30 years. I had to relieve the fellow who was the company pro while he was on long service leave. he trained me up in just 2 weeks with one special lesson. That was to Silver solder a bolt to a bumper bar which was already chromed (these were for buses and coaches). This was needed on the cover plates if any dipstick snapped a bolt off during assembly. A delicate situation as the heat could destroy the chrome. During his 6 weeks sojourn I had to do it twice. This was always done using Oxy as the plate was from 3/16" to 1/4" thick.

About 4 years ago I had to re solder a bandsaw blade this time using Porpane/Butane took me 3 goes for a successful join.
