I would like to join my two other co-nationals from Malta, over here the four or five machine importers only deal in badged far-eastern clones...at very spicy prices...so I have been trolling the net for my "ton of British steel"

I grew up tinkering in my dad's workshop, and in my students' days was lucky to work at Atlantic Colllege at St Donat's on building the Atlantic 23 RIB, where we had an RNLI Station.

Now, nearing my retirement, look forward to get these machines and perhaps join an evening course in milling & turning..

..& let the chips fly !!

There seems to be a healthy collection of model engineers in Malta. One who inspired me into building hot air/Stirling Engines was James G. Rizzo.

Good luck shopping for machinery.

Welcome Alan, this is a super site because of the help that most people are willing to give to anyone struggling.

There are also some very interesting discussions.

Hello and welcome Alan.

My experience from asking for quotes from local suppliers and checking UK online shops :- you'll get more for what you pay from the likes of Warco etc.

yes, I heard - it's a terrible shame, even if it was inevitable.

Alan merhba min Marsascala.

Some years ago there was a guy in Zebbug (Malta not Gozo) who dealt in big second hand machines. He was located next to the petrol station near the roundabout. I suspect he might not be in business anymore.

You can check on MaltaPark. Who knows you might be lucky and find one that isn't scrap and not expensive.

Good luck.

Vince
