Great view from the South side of the transporter bridge. We were a brilliant engineering town. Bridging steel across the world.. Dorman Long, Head Wrightson, Smiths dock, known the world over.

Hello Chris

Welcome to the forum.

> I've been deprived of a garage/shed for about ten years

That sounds like 'cruel and unusual punishment'!

living in the nw is punishment enough

Fizzy, we have electricity up here, it's not as grim as you might think

Definitely a cruel and unusual punishment, was supposed to be a few months and turned into ten years. Certainly makes you more resourceful about doing more with less.

Keep spreading the word Fizzy and leave the NW to those of us who live here - that's absolutely fine by me

I do live here! Have done all my life. Rain, wind, cold...great if you like that sort of weather. Stunning views over pendle hill from my living room window, if the fog ever clears long enough.

Hi Chris, I feel your pain, I've been in the same boat as you for years too, but finally fitting out the new building at last.

John.

I've also lived in the NW almost all my life, it's not such a bad place to be

Bit misty, bit rainy but ultimately 'bracing'

I've not moved yet and I'm already eyeing up more 'stuff'

Perhaps I should go revisit my new garage and measure it up.... that'll probably force the purchase of a shed as well

Sorry I didn't realize...

...but therein might be the reason?

The grass is definitely not greener elsewhere (and that's figuratively speaking - not just because we get more rain

Thanks ... must have caught it on the day someone switched that big yellow thing on... served my time at Dorman long ( Ayton sheet works ) worked at Head Wrightsons ( Vulcan st ) & Smiths Dock.

... Rain, wind, cold...great if you like that sort of weather... same here in smoggieland... if you can see the Cleveland hills... it's going to rain... if you can't... it IS raining... face 20

George.
