Hi all, Just started going through a large auction lot of tools that I bought recently that has some very nice tooling in it and found these 2 nice wooden cased item which have me completely stupmed as to what they are for: The first appears to be user made, not sure about the other one, any info would be most helpful pleasre. ![]() 228 forum posts 20 photos | I believe the first one is used, with a dial indicator that is not shown, for adjusting the cutting tool in a boring bar. The thumb screw with the ball end is used to push the back of the tool bit while the movement is measured by the indicator mounted in the opposite hole. Pete

JS, the small spring on the second one does not allow any marking access to the centre of the main vee so cannot see how it could be used like that but I bow to your expertise, so much greater than mine for sure. Any other thoughts? Martin |

Yes, definitely not kosher to call an inch 25mm, even if you're at 2 inches you're closer to 51 than you are to 50. It was hardly worth bothering with the lettering. Michael W |
