Today Eric Brown (test pilot) died at the age of 97

Such a brave, talented and at times lucky man. But most of all a modest 'man amongst men'

Tonight I raise a glass of red and shed a tear. But at the same time happy that he lived a full and fantastic life.

Below is a youtube to an overview and a small snipitt of his working life. Not a short video. But well worth an hour of ones life, interested in aircraft or not.!

Yes one of life's unsung heroes. I recently read his book the title of which eludes me at the moment.

One of the finest pilots that there has ever lived, may he rest in peace.

What an impressive chap.

I hoisted a large glass of appletons (one of the finest rums to commemorate a fine chap)

I think he wrote several books. I have one, which is pretty much his autobiography, titled "Wings on my Sleeve".

As others have said, a great man, from a time of heroes and Great Men.

He had a wonderful, slightly whimsical sense of humour too.

sadly

I read "Wings on my sleeve" years ago, an amazing man. He also featured on the documentary about TSR2 which I believe he was involved in testing.

A full life yes but still sad that such an inspiration is no longer with us.

David.

PS in spite of a fairly hectic schedule today I still had to watch the youtube video. So thanks Nick smile p
