Ikea Australia currently has the 'Janso' led worklamps at $17 (down from 30) and harte at $12

the first has been reviewed widely as a great workshop spot lamp, the second is slightly brighter and cheaper, but probably less practical.

"available for a short time only' - till july 5

I have 2 of the Janso lights, one on the lathe and one on the mill. Very useful as I have put magnets on the mill light.so it can be put in any position.. Here, they are £15 or so with delivery.

I can report on the harte style now: it is nowhere near as flexible, but the head can be moved as it is on a short length of flexible tube. The light issisupposed to be higher output than the janso, but I found it to be slightly warmer, and so appears softer. There are about 5 LEDs, not a single as in the janso, so it is spread wider. I found it quite good over my lathe because of that. A good buy at the current sale price.

I have a couple of the single led lights linked to initially. I recently bought a lathe with a different type fitted. In my view it's better than the other type. This is one from it's range. There are others.

The lamp on the lathe uses the bulb shown in the link and is the version with the base but it's removed. it's then held in a length of split copper water pipe plus a jubilee clip. At this height it lights the whole lathe up easily. The lathe is around 18in long. I'd guess there are more powerful led bulbs around of the same style and also different light spreads.

I'd be happier still if the flexible end was longer.

Best click on the images on the style I linked to. It can also be fitted via a clamp that comes with it or screwed to something as the original image shows.

It's odd .... Canadian Ikea sells the Jansjo lights for $12.99 (plus local taxes ~13%) as the regular price. Don't know why they should be so much more in Aus. Even more surprising perhaps (for a European company) is the price in the UK.

They are probably made in the Far East and drop-shipped which might be helpful to both Canada and Australia.
