1504 forum posts 142 photos | Steve There is a "new rule" that only those who have posted on the forum can contact Classified advertisers. This is to counteract scammers who have been using it. Now that you have made a post you should be able to contact. |

7517 forum posts 20 photos | This complaint has come up so many times recently, so would it not be a simple fix to PM or email every member who is now affected by this rule change. Seems so simple, and polite for that matter, to inform those affected by the rules change |

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | We get no notification of when a member registers for the forum and even if we did if we PM'd them then we would basically be telling scammers what they need to do to beat the system. We would also need to find someone with the time to message thousands of members, yes that is the sort of numbers you would be looking at who are registered but never actively use the forum. Any non active member gets this message when they try to look at sellers details, it is going to be altered as Neil has already said. "Only trusted members, those who have posted regularly in the forum, can view classified ads contact details. Please contact a moderator if you need further details." 7517 forum posts 20 photos | Why this thread (yet again) if that message was made clear to this poster? Seems a clear enough instruction to even me! Maybe a contact link (for a moderator) needs to be included, as well, to help these poor souls? |

![]() 19226 forum posts 749 photos 86 articles | Unfortunately the person who looks after the technical side of the website is on extended sick leave. As soon as we can we will be reducing the number of posts required and making the message a bit clearer so people know all they have to do is post a few messages rather than having to contact a moderator. The good news is that, in the first half of this year I had well into double figure of respondents that sellers had been contacted by scammers, since implementing this change this seems to have stopped. It has been a big surprise that there are such large numbers of people who use read the forums and classifieds but don't post. Neil

I agree that to introduce such a change, without the courtesy of a message, is distinctly odd. Jason and I have posted about this issue on the forum several times, including letting people know when it was brought in. Of course people who use the classifieds don't all read the forum... An email explaining how to get round it to all users would just help the scammers, because they would get it too. The long and short of it, it's more important to protect vulnerable sellers than to give buyers a minor inconvenience. On another forum I use you have to make fifty posts before you can access the classifieds. Neil |

5 forum posts | Ok so I'm back after my little rant. It wasn't the best of days to be honest and I can't do without all the benefits this website offers. However, can a moderator or someone in the know please advise me on how many posts I have to make before I become "a trusted member" thus being able to view sellers contact details. Many thanks in advance. |
