Thread: Warco Lathe Oiling |
11/12/2022 16:10:16 |
Hi Justin, Welcome to the forum. My 290 lathe manual says 20W machine oil, Hydraulic H32 should work well. I use way oil on the ways and gear oil in gearbox/apron. I have to use syringe and a piece of plastic tubing when changing oil in the gearbox. Thor Edited By Thor 🇳🇴 on 11/12/2022 16:11:53 |
Thread: Up grade milling machine |
08/12/2022 10:10:06 |
Hi Bob, A friend of mine has the Sieg SX3 and likes it, he has had no troubles. I have a 10 year old milling machine similar to the Amadeal VM25 (but with a brushed mtor), no troubles and I like the long table. Thor |
Thread: Face Milling Experiment |

Impressive demo Andrew. My milling machine wouldn't cope with that job either, but it only has a 1HP motor with electronic speed control and probably weighs 1/10 of your horizontal. Thor |

Thread: Surface plate |
22/11/2022 18:39:15 |
Hi Wesley, Welcome to the forum. Are the porcelain tiles flat? Or do you intend to use the 3 plate method? I know some use plate glass as a cheap surface plate, usually they are made from Cast Iron or granite. Thor |

Thread: Non-steaming models. Sacrilege?? |
26/10/2022 10:08:04 |
I run my steam engine models on compressed air, a few I have tried on low pressure steam. A model driven by compressed air or by a battery isn't a sacrilege in my book, so just do what you want. Thor |

You need to use a kind of flux - salts that often contain chlorine or fluorine. Here is a Youtube video. Thor Edited By Thor 🇳🇴 on 21/10/2022 11:30:46 |
