Thread: How to stop scam phone calls for good?
21/07/2020 14:26:56

Really i'd like to be able to block all calls except ones that we/she wants to get calls from

the scammers are upsetting for her now

i have a pair of call blocking cordless phones and loads still get through

she has 4 cordless and a fixed landline phone....so how do i get call blocking? is it hardware at home or at the exchange?

Thread: Help with contacting MyHermes

Thread: How to stop scam phone calls for good?

My mother is getting increased number of scammers targeting her by phone

shes 85 and in early stage dementia but still living alone succesfully

how can i stop the scammers getting through?

I have a vague thought that you can set up a pin number on the line so anyone who rings has to enter the pin for the call to go ahead.

or any other methods?

been searching the bt site but seems to have to set up a blacklist and add to that as nessasary which is too complicated for her.

or do we change her number and have her ex directory?

Thread: Short drill or Spot / Centre drill first
07/07/2020 11:06:43

I would make your pegs first and experiment with drills in your material to get your required fit

make your pegs out of 3mm silver steel perhaps

rather than as you said making your pegs fit the holes...make the holes fit the pegs

Are you sure that the cap has 4 terminals? not 2 terminals with 2 conections on each terminal?

Thread: Butterfly Bolt or Thumb Screw
05/07/2020 18:10:36

Chris

if it lasts even 6 months replace the screw or the nut a bag of 10 wing nuts will last a lifetime...guaranteed

05/07/2020 17:02:20

The thing about my suggestion is that you dont wear out the female thread in your equipment

the bolt shaft is replaceable when it wears out as is the wing nut

05/07/2020 16:53:38

Chris

just run a m4 bolt into the thread after putting a wing nut on the bolt

then use the wing nut to tighten it up

the nut does the same job as the bolt head

05/07/2020 16:34:56

Chris

so you want to convert a blade locking screw that you use an allen key for to a finger lock?

use a m4 bolt as the post and use a m4 wing nut on it to use as the lock...if the wing nut or bolt wears out ...replace it...?

Thread: Parvalux motor
04/07/2020 13:37:17

Well assuming its the one i linked to the other day 5 amps is plenty

the motor will run fine on either of those PS

That motor is a PM ( permanent magnet ) motor so wont run on ac

Thread: micro switch
01/07/2020 20:54:51

Jeff

they are fitted in this piece of av equipment

and theres 7 of them fitted in each one

made in Germany in the 70’s and 80’s by kodak

its really tricky to retrofit new styles of switch

but as i said they all seem to lose the spring

they only carrying small currents at 24v

01/07/2020 13:12:43

Hmm lots availble but at high prices

Mouser came up trumps though at a reasonable price for 10 switches

but only shipping option  is £12 ( ouch)

Many thanks to Brian
