Thread: tumbler gear arbours on a myford |

If it’s a S7 mine are pressed in and would think that the pins are shouldered. Looking from the back it looks like there is a large dia bush with a smaller dia pin in the centre. I’ll have a go at pressing one out and see what it’s all about as I don’t use this bit anymore. |

Problem with the hem speed increaser is its reverse rotation, but I have some half finished drawings for one that travels in the right direction, watch this space!! |

18 mm mdf sheet and coat with rouge as a finishing.Or you could try 3M micro polishing sheets. Edited By bernard towers on 22/04/2022 23:59:06 |
Thread: Which Grease |
22/04/2022 19:11:11 |
I was always under the impression that grease used for bronze bearings is a bit special as the additives in a lot of standard greases can attack bronze. |

My MDRO kit on my S7 is fitted to the taper turning fixtures on the back of the bed and has not given any cause for concern since it was fitted in May 2017. I also buried the mag tape in the crosslide and buried the reader head in the saddle, a really worthwhile exercise. |

Thank goodness for that!!! |
Thread: Myford Lever Action Tailstock Design and Build |

Hopper the depth stop bar on the original has a flat machined all along it, so it moves freely in the hole regardless of burrs raised by the screw. |

Thread: work slipping while threading ... |

If you do intend to regrind your jaws look up the article in MEW that gives instruction on how to make a petal; plate. Its brilliant and I have since reground 6 chucks with it and the results are superb not only improving grip but concentricity as well. |
Thread: Source of brass treblet tubing as used for making a whistle. |

I don't really understand about the distortion being blamed on the silver solder, I do quite a bit of silver soldering and have not come across this. Your choice of material may be part of your problem as straight after soldering it would be fully annealed and given the gauge and the cut out I would imagine it would be prone to be easily damaged. |

Thread: ml7 tri leva cross slide screw ? |

Unfortunately Bass you can get rid of it but it will reappear a short while later. The thrust bearing mod mentioned earlier is a good start as when fitted the play you then have is definitely screw or nut. But as you usually travel in one direction is it really that much of a problem? |
