Thread: Warco WM-16 Motor Speed Fluctuation.

I had a similar problem and it was caused by the new brushes, I would advise you to file the ends of the brushes until they are solid, get rid of the slitting and marking and make the ends curved to fit the commutator and they slide easily in their holders

I would appreciate some help as I am having problems looking for a Dial Test Indicator that has a high level of measurement, all I can find is instruments with a maximum range 0f 40 thou, my dial indicator has a range of 1" but cannot be used horizontally to measure the inside of a hole, the only option I can think of is has anybody built or designed a jig that can use a dial indicator in a vertical position to measure the offset in the inside of a hole, I need to know as I had a job and the hole was not regular and I had problems using my own dial Test Indicator as it could have been damaged due to its small range.

I used a thin superglue to repair a broken cup, I put some on each side of the join and let it soak in for a moment before putting it together, it has stayed together and been washed with no problem.

I have 10 Led fittings set in the ceiling and they use 10 x 10watt led bulbs from DAZZ LED which are really bright , I also have a 5ft Fluorescent tube fitting which is only switched on when I need to paint something.

Thread: What is the finest model engineering you've seen?

Really impressive was a Very Large version of the BIG BOY locomotive I saw at the model engineering show at Alexandra Palace a few years ago, I have not seen or heard of it since as I would like to see it running.

Thread: roller bearing balls
01/01/2022 13:52:33

When I was a youngster in London in the 50s I was near a scrapyard and I asked a coloured bloke there whether he knew where I could get Iron Marbles, he disappeared for a moment and suddenly there was a Big bang then he came over and gave me a few Iron marbles, I assume he broke a roller bearing to get the balls out.

Nigel

I see that you like others believe that things like calculation as you say give us the answers, did experts know how to calculate prior to the invention of the computer, as the computer is basically an adding machine it can only give results to what is entered whether that is the truth or what people think.

It appears that the experts are saying that the Earths Temperature about 40,000,000 years ago was a lot lower than today, I have a question for those that are involved, how did they know the temperature? did they have THERMOMETERS in those days?

Thread: Hermes. A Company in Total Confusion!
05/10/2021 21:54:36

I sent a chop-mitre saw to a buyer through Hermes and he came back to me with a photograph of the saw all smashed, It was packed OK by me so I can only say that it was VERY BADLY HANDLED by the company, I tried contacting them through their website but they said the tracking number and the postcode don't match anything on their site so I shall be ringing them to tell them I have a photo and to contact the buyer so that we can get it sorted Hopefully.

Check the brushes in the motor, they may be sticking due to wear and carbon build up inside the motor,

If you are using contacts on a favourite list that is a few years old you might find it easier if you delete the site address from the list and reload the site from the web and rejoin the site, something to do with chrome issues.

When I was an apprentice back in the early 60s I would have the job of disposing of all the unrepairable and scrap tvs etc, the shop was next to an old bombsite so on a saturday afternoon there was an enormous bonfire of cabinets etc and all the tubes were lined up against the far wall screens facing forward and a few rocks made a mess of them, nobody complained or said anything as it was where everybody dumped there rubbish. eventually in the late 60s it was made into a car park fortunately the shop had closed by then and I had moved on so they didn't have anyone to blame for the piles of junk. just a thought, does anybody remember the horrible smell of a burning horsehair mattress, absolutely evil stink.
