Damian. I'm sure you will very pleased with your machine. There's something very satisfying about cleaning the grime off & giving a quality machine a new coat of paint. As for tooling I bought an ER 25 collet chuck & a set of imperial collets from CTC tools. ( there's other cheaper sellers on ebay)
I also recently bought a set of metric ER20 collets for a drill grinding jig I built & at the same time bought a ER20 collet chuck for the mill for when the size of the ER25 collet nut is to large.
My mill uses a No 2 morse taper in the spindle. Ian J Edited By ian j on 14/08/2016 21:23:42 |

John. The 5v connection is to output 5v to the stepper driver if required. It's NOT for 5v in. The in voltage of 24 v connection are to the left of the PCB as viewed with the terminal blocks along the bottom, this is regulated/dropped to 5v for the 5v output as mentioned above, & microcontroller power .. You say when you put 24v into the driver nothing happens do you mean the stepper motor driver or the Steve Ward controller?
Have you programmed the microcontroller?
Are you using the latest PCB as purchased from Steve.
Maybe a photo of your 's would be helpfull. Ian Edited By ian j on 22/06/2016 17:41:25 Edited By ian j on 22/06/2016 17:53:25 Edited By ian j on 22/06/2016 17:57:19 Edited By ian j on 22/06/2016 18:00:13 |

Ed. Steve Ward sells the PCB's for just £6 + p & p which I think is very reasonable for a professionally produced PCB with component values/number printed on it.

Looking on their WEB site this is stated : - "Please note all prices shown here appear to be different to our catalogue prices as all prices contained here contain VAT, prices in our catalog are all plus VAT." Does this explain the confusion?

Download a utility called GWX Control Panel. Using this you can remove all traces of the Windows 10 nagging software and anything it has downloaded without you knowing. I have done it on my Win 7 PC and it worked a treat. Phil
This was posted by Phil P on the first page. I used it to remove the annoying Windows 10 pop up. Ian

Andy. I believe they used to use lignum vitae wood as guides on bandsaws. Very hard & self lubricating.
Here is a source :-http://www.turners-retreat.co.uk/timber/pen-blanks/5-8-blanks/lignum-vitae-5-8-x-5-8-x-5
Or crown green bowls are a good source as well, but you will need a bandsaw to cut it Ian Edited By ian j on 22/02/2016 15:26:24 |
