Thread: Printers

Strong drink and helpful advice seem to have helped to some extent, since my printer has now performed a little better.

I,m not sure if this approach would work in all cases of machine failure, but it,s worth a try !

Cheers !!!

May be something like when I applied to build my garage/workshop 800 sq ft.

Within days, I had offers from everyone and anyone who had a shovel and called themselves a Builder offering to build my garage. When I asked around about some of these "Builders" I found that most of them would be hard put to build a coal shed. You might ask, how do they get onto you ? Simple, the local Council post all such stuff on the Internet for every gobshite to see and have a go at. Took me ages to get rid of them all, until I found one guy who knew what he was talking about.

Same thing in your case, I suspect.

Thread: My WM180 is sick!...any ideas?

Amazing what such a simple thing can cause such a problem !

Makes you wonder about all this "Pre Delivery Inspection "

Never did believe that crap anyway !, seems to be a case of "Get them out quick, get the money in quicker "

However, I,m glad you got it sorted out so handy, strange sounds like that make me uneasy.

Yes indeed, I would strip it down if I could work out how to do it.

I shall have a strong drink [maybe two ] and then attack it again.

In the meantime, thank you all for your assistance.cheeky

Sorry, I should have given the model number, which is MG3250.

07/03/2020 11:50:18

Good day all,

I am having trouble with my Canon printer in that it will not feed the paper into itself. The paper gets as far as the rollers but they don't seem to pick it up.

Any ideas how to correct this or even how to get access to these rollers ? I don't want to butcher the machine, trying to "fix" it.

I,m sure some of you have come across this before ,so I would welcome your advice.

Thank you in advance.

Thread: Four Jaw chuck
25/02/2020 16:10:05

Never bothered much with the 4 jaw until I had to, then I began to see its real value.

Now I use it almost all the time, no real trouble to set up and much better results than the 3 jaw, none of which are dead on.

Thread: Chuck back plate material
24/02/2020 12:53:17

I have made two backplates from MS for use on my Craftsman lathe [No kidding ] and they work fine.

I have never worked cast iron, never came across any, and the steel was to hand.

I just make sure to clean the thread on both the spindle and backplate before fitting, little bits of grit or swarf do no good.

So, steel should be OK.

Thread: Where's the spindle lock?
21/02/2020 13:10:54

Yes ,I think there should be a thin spanner to lock the spindle. I have one such spanner kicking around for years, never quite sure what it was for, now I know !

You learn something new every day !

Thread: Parkside (Lidl) Cordless Angle Grinder
21/02/2020 13:05:18

Don't think that "grinder" would get you into any trouble since I doubt if it would last long enough to cut anything !

Looks like junk

Feels like junk

Is junk.

20/02/2020 12:23:35

Those grinders are a heap of crap. My friend bought one [ignoring my advice ] and found that it would not accept a grinding disc, only the cutting disc which came with it and lost power after a very short time.

Best left alone.

Steviegtr,

Good while it lasted, but all good things come to an end.

Move with the times.wink

Thread: Delays in Shipping from China
07/02/2020 14:38:21

I have bought many items from China, and while they do take a while to get here, they do make it.

I would not be too worried about my latest order being delayed ,given the situation right now.

I am prepared to sit back and wait, give them time to sort things out.smiley

Thread: Rear parting
01/02/2020 15:58:56

I solved that problem many moons ago when I decided to go for rear toolpost parting off.. I simply made a toolpost to suit a wide range of cutters by providing plenty of room between the upper and lower guides.

It,s not pretty but is is rock steady and it works. I just pack it up as required.

Simon,

I doubt if you will be left waiting for too long for a dig-out.

This is what this forum is all about, and I don't think money is the name of the game !

If it was,I would be way-way out of pocket for all the advice and help I have received.

I am not near you, but rest assured, someone else is and will be willing to help

Have faith !!wink

Thread: Weight and transportability of a Myford lathe
27/01/2020 16:22:03

A garage/engine crane is very hard to beat for that kind of work.

They are quite cheap and you will wonder how you ever got along with one.

You can move almost anything with one, safely.
