I have a Boxford 280 (9 speed), a vast improvement on the BUD which was before it and with virtually no more space taken (just a little deeper). Mine came with everything except steadies, I have already made a fixed steady and travelling is on the projects list. If you get the original QCTP extra holders can be expensive, RDG ones can be made to fit with a little grinding to the slot.

The gear is for backgear, undo the V-belt drive allen screws locking it onto the headstock spindle and slide the gears in which should give backgear range. |

I assume you don't want a bolt / washer as you don't seem to have a through hole. Ditch the double sided, it's probably causing more problems that solving. Make a spreader washer for the tailstock to spread the pressure out more and use Loctite, stud lock or bearing fit if needed. Heat up to remove.

If you are going to mount two gears on it for one to drive the other then you will need the slot. You could file the slot for the keyway, or clamp the tube on the cross slide on a small V block and put a small milling cutter in the chuck.

What do you mean by "mount". Can you post a picture? If you mean the clamp which holds the headstock to the bed I sold some to someone recently, Not sure if he wanted them, but could put him in contact with you. |

Left cover; Move the white knobbed lever up or down, this is forward or reverse for the leadscrew. Looks like it is in neutral. |

Lip seal with open bearings on most OE motorbike wheel setups. Lip seal with sealed bearing will be fine.

Nice job, for the tool shims - if you can find some metal pallet strapping cut it up to length with tin snips.

I have an Electronica DRO system ( EL300 display, S1 scales and EMR B reader heads) which I am currently fitting it to my Centec mill. I will have to cut one of the scales which I don't really want to do as it is the longest. It appears that EMS are no longer trading, I can't find a UK distributor and am waiting a reply from manufacturer (India). Does anyone know if the M-DRO magnetic tape will work with these reader heads? 2mm pitch, 5 micron resolution. Thanks |
