Not seen those type before. Depending on how deep the remaining screws are it might be worth having a go at them with a left handed drill bit. Thats how I got the screws out of an old Sharp boom box.

edit. Looks like MG hit it on the head once again with the type.  The  removal tool is about  £20.00

The wife & I will be attending for sure. Will be using the wifes car this time though for the 90 mile round trip as it will do it on less than 2 gallons of petrol.

When I got Virgin cable Broadband the package included VOIP phone line. This saved me paying the ripoff £21pm BT line rental charge. I disconnected the incoming BT line from the master socket. I then connected the closest BT socket to the router to the VOIP socket on the router with the supplied adaptor & cable. The phones (4) all ring as they should even though the master phone unit with the answerphone is in the middle of the circuit. I also have my house alarm connected to the VOIP line via on one of the spare old BT connector boxes.

I agree. After trying almost every paid & free A/V program and getting annoyed at their constant prompts to upgrade/renew or add extras I now only use Microsofts built in Defender along with Malwarebytes. Defender upgrades & sorts itself out in the background and you can turn off notifications if you wish. All my computers run in this configuration. No problems at all running it on all versions of Windows up to this time.

Another excellent paint supplier is Sayers in Northampton Paint Matching They mixed up paint for my car after several others said they could not do it. The paint was a special one year only release. I had it made up in spray cans (£13-50 for 400ml) to test the colour match of both shades. It was as perfect as my eyes could detect. They can do it paint cans 5ltr down to 250ml. No minimum order I believe. Very friendly & helpful staff on the trade counter. They have a spectrograph ? to match the paint and can work on samples through the post as well.

I totally agree John. I would not buy on bank transfer terms for any item. Paypal is a very easy system to set up for business and personal use. As you say many people would be put off unless there was recourse to a dispute system.

How can you say that a stud is missing ? Just because a few are missing from the rest of the toolpost does not mean that there are not 3 holding the tool. It is probably behind the toolpost centre bolt. In any case 2 clamping bolts are more than adequate for the size of tool being used which as AndrewD says appears to be in the wrong orientation.

I would have thought that 1/2hp would be overkill for this little lathe. Probably 1/4 or 1/3 hp at most.

I agree Derek, americanisms creeping into our language every where. I was taught maths at school. My FIL is a Professor of mathmatics and a Physicist he has taught all over the world. . He says "maths" is what he was taught at Uni and maths it is. So who am I to argue with him.

There are many a Chinese lathe out in the real world doing good work. Not all are rubbish. In fact many of the top brand names source their basic lathes and mills from China. As said before China will build up to any price & quality you want.

If I were you and if the SB is is good nick would be ditch the line shaft & re-motor it with 3 phase motor and VFD. Either in underdrive or back mounted format.

Sell the Lorch as you will get a better return on it than the SB IMHO especially if you have the colletts for it. If you sell both you may be somewhere in the ballpark to buy a decent lathe.

I have one of those also. As soon as I turn it up to oil something oil always runs down the outside of the spout. I have several Wesco cans and none of them leak enough oil to bother about. I have several "railway" type tip up oilcans which are good & non leak but no good for pressured applications.

I agree that he is entitled to complain. I am not disputing that fact. He does not state whether he had complained to the subscrition department first. Just to come here and go straight into a rant about how crappy the website is the wrong way to go about fixing his problem. What does he think that we the forum members can do about it. We have no magic wand. I think that a more polite post would have got him a lot more help than just JasonB's post which was on the money but not a thank you from the OP .

I hope he got it sorted but as we have had no more feedback I doubt it.

Thats the attitude that will get you nowhere. Straight in for the kill. 1st post a complaint. How about "hello my name is so & so I am new to the forum and am having a bit of trouble downloading/viewing my mags, HELP".         Your 1st port of call should be the subscription department.

I find find that 99.9% of people having trouble with any website are either clicking tooo many buttons, not reading the instructions, are to impatient to allow the site to load the pages properly or forget to scroll down pages for further info'.

I am sure there will be a simple explanation for you problems. As JasonB says use Pocketmags as this is an easy way to view the mags. The vast majority of subscribers seem to have few problems.
