62 forum posts 2 photos | I need help in using this filler. The Packet says bring the coated parts together when the surfaces become tacky. this can take quite a a long time. Other sources say bring the coated parts together after 20 minutes. What are ME website users experience with this product to produce a Steam and Pressure tight joint, in my case, 90 psi and 160 degres celcius ? Any suggestions will be most welcome. Thanks, Mike. |

3630 forum posts 128 photos | It has to be left long enough for the hardening reaction to get started so it properly bonds to whatever its applied to. But you don't want to leave it so long that there is a semi hardened layer between the two parts. 20 minutes is long enough to get the reaction going but if the surfaces have become tacky before your 20 minutes are up then the parts should be assembled immediately to ensure you get a homogenous gasket layer. Actual time to tacky will be fairly variable depending on thickness, temperature, humidity, substate et al. Clive |

62 forum posts 2 photos | Thanks everyone so far, most helpful. One thing I forgot to ask was about curing times and temperatures as , again, most sources of information are not vey clear on this part of the process. Mike. |
