I too fitted George's mod on my S7 and have found it very useful !! H Posted by Martin Kyte on 10/06/2015 12:04:46: I did the (George Thomas?) mod on my Myford which adds a Locking screw with a little lever knob between the gib adjustment screws on my compound slide. I allows me to lock the slide without changing the setting of the gib and does give a little more resiliance to the tool post. regards Martin

Still use floppies they so quick to use as a note pad, ok memory sticks do the same but floppies dont stick out of your PC H
Posted by Neil Wyatt on 20/05/2015 12:41:30: I have a vision of Ketan wiping away a tear as he lovingly places the MS-DOS 5 1/4" floppies in the 'archive draw' and prepares to feed a huge pile of 3 1/4" Windows 3.1 floppies into a shiny new 386. Neil

Thread: Cylidner drain cocks |
09/04/2015 07:08:16 |
Hi Dan I have a 3" Burrell and the drain cocks work fine, they are not home made but ones that are available from supplies such as Poly Models / Maidstone Eng. The hole in them is not that big however my thinking is you have to much solid material in your boiler so I would start by giving it a good flush out and take it from there. H |
Thread: What did you do today (2015) |
25/03/2015 09:26:04 |
Some guy's have maybe already thought of this but it was only yesterday when the penny dropped for me ! Over the last few months I have been working on the crankshaft off my 3" Burrell and I'm one of these people who take photos as I disassemble thing and have been using my phone to do this so it's been getting a bit grubby at times it then accrued to me that I had an old Samsung mobile laying aroound so I cleared all the 'junk' off it loaded on the photos I have taken so now I have the visual references I like to hand and a clean mobile in my pocket H |

Mine are the imperial ones H Posted by JohnF on 22/04/2013 23:15:42: Joe, Why are you changing to grub screws? They are indeed 5mm and the original Myford ones are 3/16 BSF, I have both types plus some others of variouse parentage, Myford and A & R being the best by far. John

Thread: Dewhurst Switch |
04/03/2015 16:14:40 |
Hi Jacob I use one of these link as you can see lot difference in price Dewhurst go for around £40 on ebay. Some folks shy away from this switch because it leave the neutral connected in the off position but a lot of electrical items in the home have the neutral connected when left in a 13 Amp socket outlet !
