I'm away for a few weeks but on my return I hope to do a similar scheme involving rubber sheeting if anyone wants some

I can get any amount of used printers blankets which are a very high quality rubber sheet with a cloth backing alltogether about 3mm thick and perhaps 1000mm x 700 mm

Its useful for many purposes

Ian

Hi Ian,

I will have four sheets please.

Last time I used paypal it didn't give me the option of using "gift aid", I'll see what happens this time.

Regards,

Len.

P.S. Just in case I have put my e-mail address and home address on a separate P.M. to you

Nice offer Ian.

By gift he is referring to the "gift for family and friends" option in paypal. The other option is pay for business services that will get him charged some huge fee. Interestingly although Paypal charge for the transaction it is less than a stamp so does work out better than old fashioned methods like a cheque.

Money sent, for 4 sheets please.

So what is it used for in printing anyway?

Users please report on here any clever uses - and any problems with solvents, glue that does or doesn't work etc.

Hi Baz,

My paypal screen shows two options, "business services" and family and friends".

There is no mention of the word gift anywhere.

Len.

Basyle

They are used in offset litho printing they are stretched round a cylinder and transfer the image from a plano plate which reads right way round onto the rubber blanket which then reads wrong way round and then its transferred onto the paper board.

this arrangement is very common in printing processes today as it keeps the abrasive paper from the plate thus allowing longer print runs before plate changing > circa 500,000 impressions should be available.

these blankets are circa £100 each and may last from a minute to a month perhaps...they easily damaged for printing purposes.

these are off a KBA press and are really just thrown away after use as I say there is a pile of a 100 waiting to be skipped.

Paypal gift means that I get all the amount rather than paying fees as i have just charged the my hermes price rounded up to the full pound it may be called sending money to family and friends..If you want buyer protection make the amount larger so I get the postage amount
