It is a lookalike of the Waterloo Boy which was built in US around 1914/20. It was the forerunner of the John Deere tractors that are so common today. My model is a 2 cylinder 4 stroke petrol engine with one forward and 1 reverse gear as was the original. however my one was all built entirely from bar stock, I also cheated a bit with the ignition using modern electronics As an afterthought I fitted it with RC operating the Steering, Clutch/ Brake , Gear change & throttle. Some of you will remember I asked for advice about cutting internal tooth gears for the drive wheels as were correct on the model N, but as this was beyond my capabilities I used external toothed gears which were correct for the earlier model R. Thanks again Farmer Dave here is a link for a video **LINK** |

![]() 1181 forum posts 669 photos | Ditto Neil's opening comment! What size/type of motor? Didnt see any smoke, so it must be pretty good. It's a real buzz when you see a miniature you have built actually working, so you must be on a high with yours. I remember the first stationery steam engine I built, and how chuffed I was seeing that oscillating engine spinning. The fact that the ST meths boiler nearly fumigated me didn't matter. Curly's description of using meths to fire a boiler certainly was apt. Geoff - Busy making another SkyHook. |

33 forum posts 7 photos | Hello all Answers to your questions. Andy, at the moment I am revisiting a 4cylinder 4 stroke I built last year making a fee mods. Stewart, Its around 1/8 scale 400mm x 220mm rear wheels 200mm dia. Jason, you will need to wait till tomorrow for your photos Its raining cats & bogs at the moment. Neil , showing my ignorance what is NASCAR, I built it for my own satisfaction just to see if I could . I started with a photograph of the full size tractor and worked from there with the help of a fag packet and some head scratching. Olballie, Its a 2 cylinder 4 stroke of my own design, 24mm bore x 25mm stroke ,Ill leave it to you to calculate the C.C., water cooled petrol engine, with Rexel electronic ignition through a distributer, and drip lubrication to the crankshaft . I thought a driver would make it look more like a toy than a model. just my opinion. Thank you for all your comments. Dave |
