126 forum posts 32 photos | hi will brass work as a slide valve material just i have a big block of brass that i can use the cylinder is cast iron so will brass work at the mo i cant afford to get any differant material so would rather use what i have?????? also were would engineering plastics come in to use could you use somthing like acytel or delrin............... this is just a courious question the model is only going have minimal use atb mike |

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | For light use Brass will be OK though a bronze would be better. You could always silver solder a thin piece of bronze onto a brass block, if you cut a hole in teh bronze first then that will form the cavity in the valve. J |
