Are these old measuring item worth anything?

I was given the following micrometers, depth gauge and slip gauges.

Im wondering it they are worth anything?

Honest answer to your question, Yes

'Worth' can refer to money, but only you know what you actually meant. If you are an engineer then the measuring instruments are 'worth' keeping and using, if you dont want or need them then someone else might find them worth having, whether they think they are worth buying is a totally different matter.

In the past when I have been disposing of job lots the measuring instuments have never fetched much compared to cutting tools and other equipment, same at auctions.

Why I have no idea, perhaps it's trust in something that cannot be checked until bought ?

If you want to use them they are worth someting, but they will not sell for a lot check out the job lots of them on fleabay. The electronic ones are so cheap now. Plus a lot of people no longer know how to use them.

Selling job lots is seldom sensible since most people have half the items and don't want to pay to end up with two, Always think from the buyers point of view. Same thing with failing to put up decent picture and 'collection only' and being too lazy to even put up dimensions.

Not many people need a large micrometer, work to the precision offered by slips, or need to set an angle with a sine bar. Probably the depth gauge is the most usefull except for pwople who got a free one with their subscription to ME.

Worth most to someone who appreciates them and may even use them from time to time.

It isn't realistic to prserve everything that is well made and useful, especially if it is worn so it loses accuracy, but some things are just nice to own, and then one day along comes just the job you need them for, or the opportunity to pass them on.

Like me you may well have 1" and 2" digital micrometers, but are your really likley to buy bigger than that for the amount you would use them? No, but one day those ones will come in handy.

When I say I was 'given them' it was when I spent several thousands on buying machinery from the person!

I already have metric equivalents, and therefore don't need them. I'll probably put them on eBay as a group and not expect much for them!
