am looking to buy a chunk of cast iron that when i finish with it will have a size of 130 mm diam X 30mm thick so does anyone know of any suppliers that they know would have this and deliver nationwide - UK

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | M-machine do 130mm CI cut to length at £9.32/25mm so cost you about £12 but that may be a bit tight on your finished Dia so they also do 140mm at £10.20/25mm.

![]() 7468 forum posts 230 photos | When buying cast materials, the actual size is usually a given amount oversize to allow for machining, so the 130 mm bar should machine to 130 mm. Ian S C

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | I do find that CI is quite tight to size you may be thinking of cast bronze which usually has a bit more to play with, just measured some CI I have.
80mm = 80.91 70mm = 70.83 60mm = 60.12 45mm = 45.47 25mm = 25.44 So very little to play with. |

570 forum posts 18 photos | I don't know the application for your cast iron project, but sometimes the obvious is easy to miss.When I design things I take standard stock sizes into account so as to involve minimum waste and machining.Dooes it really have to be exactly 130 mm finished? Colin |
