My machine came out of the Ark and had no prob's, my grandsons keep telling me that I should upgrade but at 70s do not see the point of wasting lots of dosh when it works.

Hello Frank, Good morning!

You need the latest Office stuff to view it $$$$$
No, you don't need to pay to read Power Point files.
And for that purpose you don't need to pay to read (or write) any files from the Microsoft Office set of applications: Word, Excel, Access, Power point and more.


You can download and install a FREE package that is a Open source concurrent to the Microsoft Office. And, in this case, free means really free.

I use it for almost ten years and practically I only open the Microsoft Office applications in rare occasions. I'm writing this post in Open Office and when finish I'll copy and past to the forum editor.
I used to work in a large engineering government laboratory and there, a considerable part of my colleagues didn't even had the Microsoft Office package installed in theirs machines... Instead they used the Open Office set of applications.

or you can simply click on the big 'ol link on most of that sites pages that says

Download a free copy of Power Point Viewer

no need to spend a dime........

but it worked fine for me anyway on my Mac using Keynote to read the powerpoint stuff

It's a bit more involved than that. LibreOffice and OpenOffice are now developed separately.
