Hi Nobby and Paul

On the Grayson lathe that I used to own I fitted a Myford thread indicator. I engaged the indicator with the lead screw at the right hand end of the apron [as with the Myford] then spotted through the fixing hole in the indicator and then drilled and tapped the apron. By slackening or tightening the bolt the indicator can be engaged or disengaged as on the Myford,
Hope this is of some help

Regards Peter

I have made one for my old 7 inch drummond lathe and used it on very many occasions over many years.

Any idea were to go to buy a Myford indacator for a Super 7 at reasonable costs?

I badly need one in good shape.

Nobby,

I have a flat bed Drummond like yours. I have used it a lot for screw cutting with no problems. It is vital to keep the lead screw clutch ( as shown in your photo) engaged at all times and return the carriage to the start by reversing the lathe. Mine still has the treadle so this is a very quick and easy thing to do.

Hope this is of help.

Eric

Have you seen this one?

Leaving everything engaged and putting the lathe into reverse is foolproof and the only way of cutting metric threads on the ML7 imperial version.

Thank you Dennis; it seems, I was too quick because today the man who has done the complete overhaul and conversion to metric mailed me, he had one for me, it was on the machine before he started working on it and belongs to my Myford, so it will be resprayed in Myford grey and then I can pick it up. I am a lucky guy, Myfordsolutions is only 10 miles from my house.
