1 forum posts | What size independent chuck would anyone suggest for a Myford ML10. I know a 150mm is often used on the 7 series what is this too large for the 10 series.
I email Myford and they came back as below.
email to Myford - Please advise what size 4 jaw independent chuck you recommend for the ML10 and if I purchase new what is the cost. Thank you
reply from Myford ---
Many thanks for your email. At present we do not have any sotck of independent chucks, and as we break up for holiday today at 12.30pm I cannopt get time to progress further.
Sorry I cannot help at this precise time As you can see , no answer to my question re size or cost which sould be always available to them. If an item is out of stock then fair enough. I just do not think much of the reply. Maybe they just want us to buy from China. Further note the spelling! |

![]() 2314 forum posts 139 photos | Hi there The standard 4-jaw independant chuck for the ML10 is 4 1/2" (115mm) - the one with mine was a Pratt Light Duty model ( I dread to think the price of this new these days!) The 7 series 4 -jaw is 6 " and is not suitable for the ML 10. I did pick up a 100mm ( 4") Pratt Burnerd 4 jaw independant ,secondhand, a while ago and this is very good for the more delicate parts. I'm surprised at your reply from Myford - you must have caught them at a bad time. I've always found them very helpful and patient - even with some of my fool questions! Good luck! Norman |

I expect Myford where on their way to the Bristol show.
I bought a 5in. 4 jaw threaded for Myford from J&L Industrial.
Might be ok for an ML10. You probably can't pick up a 4 1/2in. chuck now.

141 forum posts 32 photos | Sorry to hijack the thread somewhat but my 5" 4 Jaw S/C chuck on it's backplate weighs a ton (OK maybe not, it just feels like it sometimes). Is there any reason that it can't be left in situ on my Super 7?

![]() 814 forum posts 36 photos | I often use a 6 inch 4 jaw on my Myford Speed 10 but you have to be careful to ensure the jaws do not protrude much beyond the body or they will hit the bed. For that reason I would buy a 5 inch one for this machine. I like the ones that have the body threaded and do not use a backplate ,since they have less overhang.
