Good evening all,
I have scratch built a model of the above wall engine from the series published in M.E. written by Stan Bray. He mentions in his writings that Herr W. Schneeburger updated the original Drawings for the engine circa 2005.

I remember reading something about it somewhere myself, but cannot trace any reference to it in my collection of M.E's. I know I must have seen it because I used the website address from it to log on to the Museum where there is some information about the engine and also a video of the original running on Compressed air.

Can any one out there point me in the right direction of the article, I would be most grateful for any help on the problem.
Regards to all, John.

Hi John,

this is only a guess but  GLR Distributors Ltd do a wall engine that may be the one that you are refering to.  My guess is because I have just bought from GLR his Tina mill engine and the instruction come with drawings that have recently been updated by a guy with either the same name or similar.  The reason for being a bit vague is that I am at present away from home and can't get to the information.
However Pete of GKL may be able to help here because if it is the same model then his instructions for Rachel may be copies of the original ME articles - they are for TINA.

I've noted on GLR Distributor's web site the following:-  "RACHEL" WALL ENGINE-Unusual wall mounted steam engine, based on drawings by Otto Lilienthal of Germany in 1882. Cylinder 2 mm bore x 40 mm stroke, Flywheel 170 mm dia. Drawn in metric, building instructions included.  Try

Hope this is of some help.
regards

I think this is the Swiss company that actually produce the castings and mentions the designers name. Change the language to english and then click "steam engines"

And this is another UK supplier of some of their products.

Many thanks Gentlemen for the replies to the above thread. I was aware of the GLR kit and found the link to the Swiss company interesting it looks as though it's kit could be the one that GLR are marketing.

However what is most anoying to me is that the article for which I am looking is somewhere out there, must be, unless my memory has gone walkabout but, despite many hours searching back numbers of my magazines it still eludes me, Stan Bray in his construction article mentions 2005 but I have drawn a blank there. So many thanks for your efforts I will just have to keep on looking.

 Regards, John

John,  as suggested before, try Pete at GLR.  He sells his kits with construction details. In my case (the Tina mill engine) they were photocopies of the relevent ME articles by Stan Bray.  If that is the case for the wall engine I cannot see why he would not tell you the ME mags that he may have used.

Best of luck.  BarryQ

Just found a site with a very detailed 8 page build diary of this engine. Click this and at the bottom of the page "zum bauberricht" will take you to teh build. Awsome work, the rest of his engines are also worth a look.

You may want to use a translator such as Babblefish to read it
