More about me:

Did an apprenticeship (fitting and turning) with BR on steam locomotives. Yes, afraid that I am that old - started in ‘61! Progressed to working on diesels and even had a hand in designing a small part of the Advanced Passenger Train in Derby. No doubt the unpublished reason why it was a failure!  So ran away to sea where I did have time to do a little modelling using the ship's workshop equipment. Have also worked in the food processing industry. 25 years ago re-joined the railway scene (just before privatisation of BR) working with what is now Eurostar. A far cry from steam engines. Now retired and have embarked on a bit of modelling after years of bringing up a family and working away from home. Recently bought a lathe and now looking out for a suitable mill. Started work on a GWR Bulldog (K Wilson design) as my first loco and progress was far too slow due to other external forces so then started to look at smaller loco. Just decided to go ahead with Don Young's BR 2-6-0 type 2 as a 2-6-2 tank to be finished as a LMS Ivatt.  In other words it would have been easier to just put in my profile as "MAD".
