![]() 126 forum posts 11 photos | Hi all.
Has anybody actually managed to buy a copy of the Readers' Workshop special?
I have been into several branches of WH Smiths across the south and no sign of it in any of them.
Less than helpful staff have no idea about availability either.
Cheers,
Anthony |

189 forum posts 30 photos | Maybe the "Out Now" is a little optimistic, I ordered it weeks ago on pre-sale and it hasn't arrived yet - my Smiths is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard too!
I might be tempted by the "Best of..." but the contents list is a bit vague to say the least.
Cheers, Andy

Anyone who preordered unless in the last few days should have received it.
Smiths are a pain.
I don't know how Smiths work out who gets it.
The new best of special is a bit vaque.
When I decide what is in it, I will post it here.
Some content has been decided but not all.
3 of Stan Brays engines are in it. Edgar Westbury did a little oscillating engine and that is included. I will put one of Edgar's petrol engines in. Possibly Wyvern but that needs expensive castings although it could be mde from the solid quite easily.
One of Martin Evans locos will be included. It will include all drawngs but may need the text editing shorter.
What would you like to see included
Must be Westbury or Evans or Stan Bray.
regards David

Sorry no clock.
Not yet anyway.
I will see what I can do next year.
We don't own the original copyright to the clock plans
as far as I am aware.

37 forum posts | Hi Folks
I like others have been unable to obtain a copy of Readers' Workshops from Smiths, although they have copies of ME and MEW.
I have now ordered a copy from My Hobby Store but was dissapointed to have to pay £2.45 postage which is almost half the cost of the publication.
I subscribe to ME & MEW and get a discount on the cover price and get it delivered to my door for no extra charge.
Would it not be possible to subscribe to "specials" and obtain them on similar terms to MW & MEW?
Cheers
Alan

My thoughts exactly. The cost of postage was the deciding factor for me to try and purchase a copy locally.
I have now obtained a copy from WH Smiths, although I had to ask for it as it was in the store room, not out on the shelf.
To be fair, it may have just arrived in the store, and had not been put out on display.

1504 forum posts 142 photos | As I failed to get the last 2 specials from Smith's, I pre-ordered this one from MyHobbyStore, but I do begrudge the postage, when I get my MEW post free and at a discount (by subscription). The same should apply to subscribers who want to buy the specials direct.
Smith's staff were no help previously, and those in the Preston store were downright rude.

1 forum posts | This Smiths and not having a copy is it seems common. I have been into Smiths at Ipswich, regally which is not close and I would in the long run been better off paying £7 + to get a copy delivered but there is something about paying that amount of money for a magazine. I am hoping like with a previous special it will re appeared about a month later. |
