I do not use them enough to warrent paying for a package that I will only use three or four times a year. If I was to use them a lot of the time then paying would not be a problem |

By default MS-Word uses proprietary files, which other software can usually read, but not necessarily perfectly. For ordinary purposes, not doing anything advanced, Libre/Word incompatibility doesn't seem to a major problem. Your mileage may vary!!! Libre (and MS-Word) can both work with a long list of other file formats. Dave |

Dave One advantage of libre that I found when I was teaching, libre will often open Word files that MS word won't, resaving as word files then fixes the issue for Word. |

3453 forum posts 23 photos | I found Libre Office can open more old legacy file types than Open Office so I only use LO now. The interface on both is not that good in my opinion but it can be customised to some extent which is well worth doing. |
