It may well be the same diagram that Steve has, but this thread is worth a read anyway.
Gary's post on P1 with all the photos contains a link to a pdf.

I found a used one in the end which originally came from Tony at Lathes.co.uk

I don't know your projected use, but a long one makes life so much easier for horizontal milling

Be aware that there are two slightly different widths of dovetail-the vh that I had wouldn’t fit the machine without the raiser, quite apart from the advantages of having the (long) block in place.

And shop around for the aluminium. I paid about £100 for mine, several years ago. One supplier wanted nearly twice that for the same stuff.

Yes, the pdf I have is the one provided by Gary Wooding in the thread Peak4 has linked to above. The thread referred to contains a lot of information from Gary and others on the details of the dovetails, and pros and cons of short vs. Long riser blocks.

Thanks all. I’d rather buy one than make one, but the chances of that are…….lol.

Anyone know what dovetail cutter was used.

jay.

Bigger than a 1" dia which is a little short on the flanks.

The Chronos 32mm perhaps, check the depth of your dovetails.

If I were making one, I would consider fabricating - that way, a dovetail cutter could be avoided?

For the ones I made, I found that the cutting of the dovetail was the easiest part. The hard parts were the slots for the fingers, and the fingers themselves. Although not strictly necessary, I wanted the steel fingers to look the same as the original Centec ones, and they were difficult to machine - they have some strange angles.

The pictures show the last 5 sets of fingers and name plates I made, and an unfinished set of fingers that I didn't think were good enough.

Drop me a PM if you want the unfinished set.

Thanks all, and thanks Gary for the clamps, they will help out loads.

regarding the dovetail cutter, is it 60 deg that’s required. I’ve sourced some relatively cheap aluminium

but can only make a short riser out of it, and I don’t intend to use the horizontal that much anyway.
