I recently contacted the ME magazine publishers to cancel my subscription as I no longer wished to receive the magazine. They responded by telling me they had cancelled my subscription and that I would receive 14 more issues. I told them that didn't want the magazine and would they please refund me for the cost of the remaining 14 issues. They told me they didn't do refunds so I'm now out of pocket and will be receiving a magazine I no longer want.

That's the way pay in advance subscriptions work, a major saving for the purchaser in exchange for commitment to a number of issues.

In the case of ME the benefit of an annual subscription is particularly generous. The 12 issues of the 26 you have already received have a cover cost of cost slightly more (£59) than an annual direct debit subscription (£58).

Obviously, this reduction only applies if you commit to a full year's subscription.

Neil.

Seems fair to me. A contract is a contract. Is a contract….

A contract is a contract UNLESS it's with an ISP.
