Just wondering if Arc Euro Trade is still active.

They're one of the few places that have a metric transfer punch set but the website has been giving an error recently.

Yes working for me, any chance you are visiting from outside the UK as they may be implementing some different features to make it easer (ort not) for those buying from overseas which may be playing up.

I have just ordered some bits and bobs by phone for collection tomorrow when I am passing, with no problems.

What error are you getting?

The only error message I could get up was "Add to basket failed" which appears if I try to add something to my basket without logging in first. Other than that, which if probably "a feature not a bug" as the saying goes, everything else (apart from checkout which I couldn't afford to try with my wife watching) is working for me on Chrome, Firefox and even Edge. I couldn't test IE as like my AMD graphics drivers it didn't survive my W11 "upgrade".

OK for me in the UK.

Ketan has posted at least twice recently explaining that the ArcEuro website is being upgraded to fix problems caused by Brexit, and that the change isn't trouble-free. Necessary because UK and European customers have to be processed differently now.

I haven't noticed any problems at all, and the issues - if they've not been nailed - seem to relate to older browser and operating system versions, especially Mac, or having an IP address that doesn't identify the callers origin.

Two I remember are: Apple Safari and Testing the Euro IOSS

Maybe some sort of DNS issue for me as I tried multiple browsers - I've found it works via mobile data and was able to order the set.

Thanks a lot for the replies

This was the error

I’m getting this same error too! Its not device specific as I get it on both my hp laptop and my ipad, so Ive not been able to order from Arc for a while. However, Im currently away from home and I can access Arcs website as normal on the hotels network. Does this mean its something to do with my account with our current web provider? Not being particularly tech savvy Im not currently having much luck solving this and web searches Ive done assume a lot of tech knowledge.

I've tried Nicolas' link three times. First time I had the server error message, next two times the web page opened.

It could be, I've had problems in the past with some internet providers - they sometimes 'blacklist' a particular web-page or site by mistake because they suspect them of 'spamming', or blacklist a large block of IP addresses because one individual address in that block is misbehaving. Who's your internet provider ?

I've been trying to access the Arc Euro site for the past couple of days and get this error message when being refused access :-

Server Error in "/" Application

Runtime error

I use Firefox, but tried other browsers with the same result. I can't remember seeing an error report like his before.

Jim.

Now that a couple of people seem to be having an issue I've let Ian at ARC know about this thread.

Hi,

Ian is on holiday. He will be back to work on Monday. As he will be spending time to catch up on outstanding issues, I am happy to respond.

Dave - SOD has covered the issues in his post by providing links to related posts. Generally these problems have resulted from our updating the website to provide a better more inclusive shopping experience to our European visitor base.

The updated site looks at where the visitor is from by using I.P. geolocation software. If the visitors I.P. location is identified as being from one of the 27 EU states, the site automatically gives them prices in Euros only, and calculates all costs in Euros including carriage, duties and taxes for their specific country.

This change has however effected a small percentage (I think) of our U.K. visitors. Most such visitors find that the problem clears itself after a few days, or by clearing old cookies based on our site pre-update. However, some people at certain locations in U.K. are still having a problem after clearing cookies. It is difficult to figure out why this is, and for this I can only apologise. All I can suggest is if you know what you need, give us a call and we will try our best to assist.

Thank you,

Ketan at ARC

Yes Peter, that can be one of the down sides after our using the geolocation software, and this was discussed in the links referred to earlier. If VPN is knowingly turned on by visitor, it can be dealt with - turned off easily if the visitor chooses to do so. If visitors browser, isp, or protection software use vpn automatically, and if it cannot be turned off, then it can become an issue depending on how/vpn decides to route the visitor.

I'm not sure how likely it is to be a specific internet service provider problem but I'm with Plusnet.

I got the same message/ problem a week or two ago when trying to place an order.

I rebooted our modem and problem solved, it’s been fine since.
