Hello,

I'm about to take delivery of an EMCO Maximat Super 11 lathe (a green one) and I'm going to need an operating manual as I don't have a lot of experience. Does anyone know where I could get one, even a copy would be great?

Thanks

Thanks Jason,

I've been a member of the group for a while now, unfortunately I can't find an operating manual for a EMCO Maximat Super 11, they've got the 13. Maybe it's there but I haven't spotted it!

I must say I did enjoy reading your article about your workshop. Hopefully once I've got the EMCO installed I can start to layout my garage/workshop in a similar way to yours.

Thanks,

Paul

Operating Manuals rarely explain how to use lathes, instead concentrating on the layout of the controls, change gears, accessories, circuit diagram and maintenance info. 'What Is' rather than 'How To'.

Many 'How To' books available that apply more-or-less to all lathes: my favourite is LH Sparey - The Amateur's Lathe. Sparey's main fault is he wrote in 1950 and doesn't cover later developments such as carbide inserts. However, assuming it's how to use a lathe is what's wanted, Sparey should get you going.

Your EMCO is conventional and well labelled. Shouldn't be difficult to suss out how it works: if you can't find a Manual, the forum or Emco.io should be able to answer specific questions.

There is also a group aimed more at the Super 11, the other one suited me more when I had an Emcomat 8.6

I think I have a spare manual that will be FOC, but plus postage, I will check and get back to you this morning.

I do have a spare manual, but pages 23 to 30 are missing. I can scan these and print them out if you do want the manual?

Hello Gray,

Another forum member has offered me an electronic copy, but thank you for the offer.

Thanks once again for the help with the FB2 (speed issue), it’s now up and running.

I’m also looking forward to adventures with the EMCO Maximat Super 11 when it arrives.

Best regards,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Glad to hear you are sorted, and I hope you have many happy hours with your Maximat. Mine is 35 years old this year and shows no signs of wear, despite earning my living for a good number of those years.

Gray,
