Some months ago Smokerings in Model Eng, mentioned Yesterday TV were making a series behind the scenes at Hornby.

I've just seen a trailer on Yesterday TV for it saying it starts this Monday.

Well I watched it, certainly didn't like the 30 minutes of adverts, content was only marginally better !

it was mainly about Hornby producing a Navy Class loco, which would sell to collectors for £500 to keep in the box as an investment if I understood it corrrectly, seem the market has changed I think. I might have got this all wrong it nearly put me to sleep.

I will watch one more episode do see if it improves, at least I can fat forward the ads, think I might be using the cancel record button, we will see.

Looks like I got up grumpy again laugh

I watched too, and was a little disappointed, all a bit superficial, and of course no chance of seeing shots of the factory churning out their product range, I presume flights to China were not in the budget.

I watched the recording this am. Not good, appeared to be jumping about between various subjects, and, sorry to say, sleep inducing. Anyway, the recorder's set up for the next episode. Perhaps I should watch it just before bedtime!

Agreed, far too many adverts.

I wonder how well a TV Programme on Model Engineering would go down with the general public if it were made by Model Engineers to please other Model Engineers? I suspect we would find it fascinating while everyone else was bored rigid! You have to be something of an obsessive aficionado to get the best out of Model Engineering. And that's a good thing!

I agree. Rather disappointing. Too general, not enough detail.

Yesterday TV does have some interesting programs, but trying to watch them on catch-up (UKTV Play) is really bad for adverts, often get 8 in a row + 3 or 4 on start up.

Obviously the moulding dies have been made and the end product the Loco is being tested but, boring to watch.

Again, production in China and it looks as if very little mech. work is done in Hornby. Packaging I am sure.

I saw the lathe behind the scxene, what make was it.?
