Onshape works for me, I did not like Freecad probably due to it crashing often, for whatever reason. Free version fully working version for "home use". Good documentation and plenty more available with a google search. Pete Edited By Pete White on 04/10/2023 09:19:09 |

I will give a 24 mm rotabroach a try. I have a R8 mini mill. What adapter would I need so that the Rotaborach would fit it? The one I have found on Amzon says that it needs a pilot pin, SRA50 ejector pin. What is this used for? I have a boring head and will use this if necessary. But I lack the patience to use a boring head on 3 holes because of the time it takes, unless there is no alternative. Plus, I have had problems making the holes too big with a boring head.
Thats good David, you can ask for advice but you don't have to take it, good luck. Pete I don't want to know, but do you know? is it 20 or25 mm dia holes that you want to produce. Edited By Pete White on 28/09/2023 11:21:51 |

I am not sure that it matters what the thead is, Ed has measured the internal size and the pitch can be carefully counted, thread form can be estimated? So there is enough information to start screwing until a nice fit is achieved to my mind? We are not needing high precision engineering and with a bit of glue the job would be a good un....or could it be a 3D printing project? Pete |

Fully agree, on this spendid forum, with load of very techincal help, things are very often over thought sometimes? My referance to Gripfill, have a look on Screwfix or wherever, to my my mind was a realistic solution, especially with ragging up the pole. As I said, to me there are far more important things to do than whittle about what the tread is, its a support for a bird feeder, plastic or ali, we dont know. As usual we are asked to find a solution without the full facts, its still a bird feeder support. Pete

All this thought and planning just to be able to " possible to but replacement chuchs " ? Have you already got the replacement chucks and presumably other fitting, or will you have to source them? Is there any room to make an andapter, which you could do yourself on the lathe? We try to be a helpful forum solving peoples problems that often they don't have? My guess is that this "project" won't happen, but what do I know? But good luck with it Andy Pete Redsetter beat me to it, lol

If it worries you this on ebay won't break the bank, they seem to be stupid money these days Looks ok if it is accurate ? .....does it have a compliance certificate? lol Regardind engineer, we don't want to be known as the nanny state forum, do we. Rules are made for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men? Another old chesnut the just surfaced There are old pilots and bold pitots, but there are no old bold pilots? Think on....... As Noel said a hydralic test would be a very good idea. I have stopped using my compresser similar to this and resort to a lidl offering. Old one came from a scapyard 50+ years go, lived though first 10 years and then got frit lol and had it tested but that was over 40 years ago. I don't use it anyone being wise "now" lol. Need to sell the new pump and motor, only forty years old Stay safe ! Pete Edited By Pete White on 07/09/2023 09:41:17 |

I didn't think the base of the mill was that big, don't know, you have a machine and an alley way to measure accurately. "about 30” same as the base", need to be accurate here I think. As often happens we don't get the full exact information to help. The pipe? proper measurement?, who owns what? your skill level? Good Luck Again, Pete |

I’ve had another measure up and might get away with just taking the table off, but it’s going to be tight. I 've just got to know lol , how wide is the alley way. Good Luck Pete

I have moved mine twice, as it was, once from the original factory to my first workshop and then to present workshop, never even considered going technical? Rollers and blocks winced onto a plant trailer ? Its nuts and bolts, as it was made, should not be over technical ? Don't over think it lol. Others may have more advice akin to present days, not moved mine for 35 years, son in laws problem next time, skip lifter next to the melting pot maybe lol Pete

I should have said that I have only Linux machines. I did see a comment on a 'best 10 CAD programs for Linux' article claiming that Fusion can be used under WINE but from my experiences with WINE I doubt it. I have FreeCAD but don't get on with it. Robin.
I have been there Have you tried Onshape? Free for us if non profit, web based but not a problem for me, works quick on my simple efforts, not sure about complex ones. Does it for me Just looked it has an explode feature? Pete Edited By Pete White on 03/09/2023 12:17:33 |

You're working much too hard on a time-waster; Mother Nature always wins in the end. Throw the fork away and move permanently into your workshop. It's a safe space where only good things happen. Dave Very true, .........though not sure about safe and only good things happen? lol This last 15 years working a large garden things have got progessively harder, rain no rain, excessive heat, loads of pigeons, butterflies, slugs, flys of all colours, old muscles ...etc etc. I have given up and taken Dave's advice Gardening was never like this, 50 years ago with 1/2 and acre and a Fergy 20, a 410 and spray made it easier, but were accepted then!
