Hauser watchmakers machinery

Hello all

I picked these up on Sunday, the previous user made 1 clock from his own design during his retirement.

Now the drill is a clearly a Hauser, the mill less so. The little tag that would of had the name has been removed, why I do not know! The mill appears to be identical to the one shown on lathes site under Hauser.

They are both finished in crinkle black paint, the drill I think has seen a bit of use but the mill is immaculate. What is peoples thoughts on the paint, is it original? I haven’t seen any others finished in it as far as my research has gone. Also what about age, I’m thinking the drill is older than the mill, but what do you think?
Any thoughts greatly appreciated

That's definitely a Hauser (and beautifully restored). A guy local to me is rebuilding one.

Lovely machinery ! My first mill/drill was a Hauser jig borer - built like the proverbial outhouse with a capability way beyond my skill level. The paint scheme on that (original, as far as I know) was a darkish green/grey - certainly not black.

Hello William - Back in the early seventies I was let loose on a brand new Hauser 3-SMO optical jig grinder. I used the machine over a number of years for grinding precision tooling to go with the companies products (dairy machinery). I was - and remain - a huge fan of the Hauser brand and am envious of your new acquisitions, well done!

As for paint, the 3-SMO was finished in a semi gloss battleship grey - very smart and understated.

The "vertical" mill is in fact a horizontal mill with the knee to convert it. The spindle assembly will go on the horizontal slide once you remove the knee.

Do you have any collets for it? (they can be the hard bit to accumulate). P8, P9 or other collet type?
