Hi

I recently placed an order for some spring steel strip on an online shop

The site said that due to problems the supplier had with Royal Mail my package would be sent by a courier at a cost of £6.5, a bit much I thought for an order of £3

When it arrived it had been sent by R M at a cost of £1.83

I contacted the seller to ask about the £4. 67 discrepancy and was told tough it's the website fault and no chance of a refund

Safe to say that was my first and last order from G S model supplies

And by association you would also include Western Steam?

That seems a reasonable working hypothesis, Dave

... although their trading terms may differ.

To be fair, their website does say this, albeit tucked away under "Ordering/Delivery".

(No connection to GS Model Supplies, but having, like the OP, been caught out before I always read the shipping and payment terms. (In my case it was an eBay.fr item which required a bank transfer costing more to raise than the price).

Brian ... I think the point was that they achieved a low delivery cost [by using the service that they claim to have rejected!] but did not pass-on that saving to the customer.

According to an online thesaurus synonyms of procurement include obtaining and acquiring.

Could mean lost in the post, stolen while in transit, or most likely from my experience - a signed for parcel left on the step or just shoved through the door and not actually signed for which might be a problem in multi occupancy premises.

Reasonable to assume the nominal £6.50 would also have to include packaging and admin fees not just the £1.83.

The bit on the website could simply be out of date, I know of other suppliers who went away from RM but have gone back to them, lot has changed in 18months since that was posted.

It seems to me that the business lost by this company will be worth a lot more than £4.67 once this thread has been read by lots of people.
