Hello folks,

I'm really sorry to have to let you know that MEW 299 will be delayed by about two weeks due to lockdown.

This means announcing the Stephenson Trophy result will be delayed as well, as I want it to appear in the magazine first.

There may be minor delays for subsequent issues.

As far as I know overseas subscribers will face the same delays but not miss any further issues.

Again, my apologies, but it's beyond my control.

Thanks for your understanding.

Neil

Just to add, I'm planning for issue 300 to have a few special features and some familiar faces.

"Familliar faces". hum. After seeing someone purporting to be you on the zoom call I was left thinking ' can't be him - no hat'. And you didn't look like your previous avatar either surprise

Just thought. Maybe the avatar is some guitar playing hero of yours I'm expected to recognise?

Lets hope that ME can keep going. Today I had an email from Womans Weekly saying they have ceased publicatiuon, and they are refunding the balance of our pre paid subscription.

Difficult days, take care.

Is it a scam? I hope they didn't ask for Bank Details. See this thread.

Neil,

I assume the delay is with the printers and/or distribution network, so will the digital version be released into the wild as normal or is that going to be delayed as well?

On the bright side, fans of Victoria Wood's "Let's Do It" will reflect that bottoms will no longer be beaten with that magazine!

It is better to travel hopefully. We will wait with baited breath for 299 and onwards.

Re Woman's Weekly and Victoria Wood, there's many a good tune played with a back copy, they tell me!

No, the publication schedule has been changed, my understanding is titles that have significant over the counter sales get hit hard by lockdowns so they want to make sure the next issue has a full month on the shelves outside the current lockdown.

The digital version is generated from the print one, so they both get published together.

What will happen about the subscription copies? Will they be dispatched as they come off the presses, or held until the "over the counter" issues are distributed?

Both, the to-press date has been put back two weeks.

Phoning helpline at me.secureorder.co.uk I was told issue 299 had definitely been produced and mailed out

But there is no sign of it on Pocketmags although it is ( understandably) many weeks overdue

Colour me bamboozled

Well. My Subscription issue of 299 arrived yesterday, however, I’m a bit disappointed that the reprint of the 4-facet drill sharpening article in 293 have been reprinted again in 299. I know MEW is probably short of copy, but reprinting an article twice in a short toile is bad editing.

Please, Neil ... tell us something that will encourage me not to jump ship.

Michael - just think what could befall another MTM stablemate 'Total Carp' given the present TLC given to the mags.
