Thread: U Tube |
21/09/2023 11:47:10 |
U Tube to me is a bit like the telly, loads of rubbish but gems as well. I follow a couple of posters on the CNC side, whoes video's were grest in helping build and set up my 3018 CNC router when I bought it, and again this year when I upgraded to a 4040 router, Yes, theres some product placement, but no more annoying than long advert breaks on the telly! |

Anybody else with the opinion that we may well see a similar situation with 'private' space trips/travel? |
Thread: Small Milling Machines |

From years of experience buy as big as you can sfford and have space for. I have a Sieg SX2 mill which has given over 10 years of service. I purchased a Sieg sx2.7 from Arc Eurotrade a few years ago, a great machine, but moving it is a 2 man operation. |
Thread: [Project] Over-Engineered Workshop drawers |
30/05/2023 09:30:05 |
The trays and frame design are remarkably similar to the ones in my workshop. My set is an ex primary school set of draws for the childen, given to me by my daughter when her school was being refitted. The cabinet is basically a wooden box with wood rails each side which support the trays under the top lip, quite strong as I kept a 4 jaw chuck in it, before I had sell of my machines. |
Thread: LED for solar light |
18/05/2023 21:33:24 |
I have several sets of garden lights, and each one seems to run at a different voltage. I use a 12 vdc supply from a solar panel and a 'buck converter' to set the appropiate voltage, also where possible I converted the units to 12 volt, as 12v LEDs with a resistor are reasonably cheap and available in several colours.. |

Have you tried SVG files, at work we found them pretty good for 2d file exchange, although you need apps that support them. |
Thread: State Pensions - Notification thereof. |

Could be the post of course. My son told me a customer sent him some colour samples to match a job. Posted from Poole, 200 miles away as the crow flies. They arrived this week, having being posted (and franked!) on the 16th of February! |

Thread: What are these mill and lathe worth? |
03/03/2023 09:45:22 |
If it is any help, I sold my 10 year old Chester DB7V last week for around half of the price I originaaly paid for it, a Sieg SX2,7L which was 3 years old sold for around 2/3rds the original price, both were advertised on here. You can place classified ads on ebay, You pay a fee and then it works outside the normal ebay system, no commision charged! I used it very succesfully to sell my late cousins ride on mower. |

I would opt for 'paint grade' concrete blocks, lot easier when it comes to finishing, we used them in a couple of workshops at work. |

And how many of us have gone to do a '10 minute' job that turns into a multi hour nightmare! |
Thread: Some VERY interesting LED modules |
03/01/2023 10:45:15 |
Interesting, but what a strange voltage! I have a small array of solar panels, and 12volt battery storage. At present running the door bell, and spot lights using Mr16 Led Bulbs 12v AC/DC (5W Equivalent to 40W Halogen),4000K Natural White Spotlight,Non-dimmable from Amazon, which cost just under £12 for 4. Using 'Buck converrers' for lower voltage items. Seem to be working fine at the moment. At least if there are power cuts this winter we will have light! |
Thread: Accurate Colour Rendition for a graphic? |
30/12/2022 11:14:17 |
Very wise words from Hopper, when I was at work we used Pantone and RAL and other swatch cards, but getting an exact match is a nightmare, the colour can vary depending on the substrata. Also be careful of copyright, some companies can get a bit touchy if you start selling reproductions! |
