Does anyone know where I can get a 27 tooth 16DP steel gear made. 27 teeth is not a stock item. Many thanks.

HPC Gears will make one if the above doesn’t fit the bill. Likely need to sit down before asking the price.

Thank you all for your responses. Dave I don't know how I missed the imperial sizes in the HPC listing. As for pressure angle - I am going to have to get the magnifying glass out! I assume 20deg.

HPC have a minimum order. I could knock one up for you Clive, if you send me the details. You might have to cut your own keyway.

Is it a Myford change gear?

No minimum with HPC, have a look at their FAQs

And a Myford gear would be 14.5pa

Ok I know you may not like us to poke into youir business but do make sure you really need it. On another forum a couple of months ago a chap went to lots of trouble and expense to get a gear to cut a non-standard thread to approximate a metric thread. It turned out he actually could cut a better thread with the gears he already had.

Hmm, you're right. I checked back a few years and it's been that way a while. I must be remembering it wrong, or confusing with another supplier.

Thanks Jason & Pete for your replies. It is the idler gear for a Colchester Student Mk1 Norton Gearbox. Using a magnifying glass ruler and protractor it looks like 20deg pressure angle. The HPC off the shelf gear with a sleeve looks like the way to go.
