An interesting idea - using a bioler instead of the more usual type. But as usual, we might guess that you need a boiler to raise steam for a model - is that correct? Then there will be questions like 'how big' and 'what pressure', as well as 'have you done anything like this before - ie made something that could blow up in your face and take the shed roof with it?'

Regards, Tim

Hi Tim yes it is for steam I have several small steam engines ie Stuart beam etc I've made several small steam engines just simple stuff

But would now like to make a bioler to run about 60 80 psi vertical about 100mm dia and about 250 high gas heated

Slow down Kevin, "bioler". Let's try "boiler".

No problem, carry on Kevin! ( if you read Tim's post, I think he was initially pulling your leg a bit)

Hi Kevin,

There is one free plan of a vertical boiler here, might be a bit smaller than you want.

You should also find some build logs here.

Longtimes ago ME published a Tubal Cain design and construction series for a 3" vertical boiler. Very simple and satisfying to make with a central flue and 3 water tubes crossing the firebox. My gas-fired example steams at up to 80 psi and runs my Stuart Turner engine nicely. 'Fraid I can't recall the ME issues.

Tubal Cain's 3 inch boiler is listed as a kit of parts and drawings by AJ Reeves. Possibly this is the one referred to above by Clive Brown.

Tubal Cain's 3" test boiler was described in ME 18 Feb "77. I made one and you can see a picture of it, and the GA drawing of it in my album. It steams my ST10 quite well on only 10 PSI or so.

Kennions vertical boiler kit is relatively simple to build.
