Hi - On the 8th July I received acknowledgement of my (UK) subscription to Model Engineers Workshop since when I have been waiting to receive my first issue, presumably that for August. Thought the whole point of a subscription was to get the copy before they hit the shops. Anyone else having similiar problems?

If you go upto settings in the green bar along the top of the page and enter the 10 digit subscription number you should have got then I can look up your details.

Could any regular UK subscribers to MEW Print let me know if 295 has hit their doormats and approx when so that I can work out what Greensands should have got.

Thanks J.

I've had issue 295 for perhaps 2 or 3 weeks now. Sufficiently long for me to have entered the details into my articles database, copied an article ready for making and then filing the magazine. It is marked as the July issue, and the previous issue was the June issue. Just to be absolutely certain, mine contains the second part of the Cherry Hill interview.

I received my printed copy of issue 295 on 6th or 7th July with digital access via Pocketbooks on 3rd July, late P.M. So, the OP is being a bit hopeful about getting his copy on the published date of 10th July, two days after receiving the subs acknowledgement. I am assuming it's a print subscription only.

By my reading, Greensands is eagerly awaiting delivery of the August issue

Thanks John that early delivery date does seem to point to 296 being Greensand's first issue.

Due to the extended time between issues being produced 295 seems to be getting listed as "July/August" edition

You have all your details entered correctly so can just click on "magazines" along the green bar at the top of the page and that will list what publications you can view, click on "Model Eng Workshop" and all the magazines will come up

I took out a print subscription just before the April magazine was due to be published - ie end of March or thereabouts. I received an acknowledgement saying that my first edition would be the June one published at the end of May, and this was in fact the case.

This suggests to me that it is between 4-6 weeks from acknowledgement before you are 'on the list' so to speak and then receive the next issue so that the OP may have to wait for the edition at the end of August if my case was not unique.

It has been worth the wait!

That's my take on it, too. I was responding to Jason's request for those who had received their issue 295 and when.

Bearing in mind that the issues have been stretched to 5-weeky intervals, I think the earliest issue that Greensands can expect will be the August, issue 296, due for publication on August 14th. I confidently expect to be reading it Friday evening 7th August, albeit squinting at the ipad screen!

Please accept my apologies, John ... I evidently misinterpreted your following remark:

”So, the OP is being a bit hopeful about getting his copy on the published date of 10th July”

Michael,

Absolutely no apologies necessary. I specialise in being misunderstood. I should have realised there are more than two ways to read a comment. Brevity to the detriment of clarity.

Regards,

My report was aimed at being helpful to Jason B, and, because there seemed to be a slight amount of possible confusion over dates, included the issue month, and a reference to one item mentioned on the front page along with a reference to the previous issue month of issue. Fair enough I didn't give the issue number for June, as I assumed it would be obvious.

That's all,

Peter G. Shaw

Pleased to report that the digital copy of MEW 296, labelled "August/September" has just appeared on my Pocketmags subscription page. Looks like there's nowt but repeats on the TV, again, so I'll be delving into it later.
