Does anyone know what’s happened to Macc Models? I sent them an order on 24th March, received half of it and was promised the rest ‘asap’

Since then I’ve emailed and tried phoning during office hours but just get their answering machine (which has got me no reply so far). They are still advertising and the recorded message says they’re still taking mail orders.

Barrie, I think it's a bit premature and dangerous to assume that! Unless you know something.

Well either way I’d quite like the rest of the goods I’ve paid for!

HI Frank

We are extremely busy at the moment, I can see you emailed me on the 2nd April, and no the taps haven't come in yet, they are meant to be working tomorrow according to todays email from the supplier.

Due to the virus and the world basically on pause they are only working a couple of days a week.

I will email you back now with your options.

Joe

I wouldn't worry, I've ordered in the past and had part orders received and have waited two weeks for the rest, In my opinion they seem to take a laid back approach with orders.

Perhaps relevant to know that, IFAIK, Joe "is" Macc Models. There is only him, and one might imagine him being busy because so many other suppliers have shut up shop and because so many modellers are suddenly having to stay home and model. If he is having supply problems because his suppliers are also busy/short handed or shut then it's little wonder he is getting behind with his orders ( is there an old joke there?) So look after him, he is doing his best.

Just had an email from Joe and confidently expect the missing goods in the next day or two. But this does show the importance of keeping people informed, especially with things as they are at present and after all an email doesn’t take a moment.

I thought, in law, that a retailer had four weeks to satisfy an order. I may be wrong but to expect delivery in a few days may be reasonable but sometimes a little patience is required.

I worked in engineering sales for a big US company for a short time. “As soon as possible” meant exactly that. It was the lowest priority - making the tea was more important.

Edit - Posted during the satisfactory conclusion.

So Bill,I wonder whether your old granddad would have waited at the bus stop forever without checking that the buses were still running? Definitely a test of personality.

I placed an order with Macc a couple days ago. Got an email confirming my order the next day and another the following day notifying me that my order had bee shipped. Note that I am in the USA. I have ordered from them before and was satisfied. With the currency exchange rate being what it is plus no VAT and reasonable postage costs, I can buy some things cheaper from them than I can in the USA, especially BA fasteners, taps and dies. I received my last order from them in less than 10 days. Rick, Cape Cod, MA
