Are there any other builders of the Red Wing engine nearing completion ? My cam is same shape as the plan . It opens the exhaust valve at the right time but it wont hold the valve as long as the plan tells me . It should stay open nearly to TDC . Mine closes about half way up the stroke I am making a new cam with longer opening time to try , but I just wondered if I was going wrong some where Regards Phi |

If I wanted to make a sprocket for a 1/2 pitch chain , would the calculation for the pitch circle be the same as for a gear with 1/2 pitch teeth ? regards |

regarding the chemist sales , back when I was about 13 or 14 . mis 1950s we used to be able to buy sulphur and saltpetre to try and make out own gunpowder . Never got it quite right though ( luckily) flashes and spectacular flames and very few bangs .
. My Mom walked me to school for first few days then on my own from age 5 just like everyone else and we thought it was normal ( well it was ) I did get a lift some mornings with the milk man on his horse and cart ! Happy days ! Phil |

Thread: What’s the tolerance?? |
04/07/2020 07:43:24 |
Some of the drawings I have been working to , have all dimensions in fractions . A part made to 3/16 inch can have quite a wide variation when miked , So its just parts made to fit isn't it Phil |
Thread: Overview of fitting variable frequency drive (VFD) to a Myford ML7 |
03/07/2020 08:32:55 |
The motor on my S7 gave up the ghost a couple of years ago and I fitted the newton tesla kit . No problems whatever and much better to use than the single phase motor , ( mind you that was goodness knows how old ) For screw cutting , it.s great using the "jog" control and easy reversing . I would recommend it ( not cheap however ) regards Phil |
