I have a Myford Rodney milling thing which has been tried, but never really used in the last 25yrs. It's spent its life in a corner gathering dust and generally in the way.
I now have a Centec 2A without the vertical head and have been considering the feasibility of converting the Rodney to fit the Centec. Just wondering if anyone else has tried it or has any thoughts on doing it. Given the Rodney is belt drive and the Centec has the spare drive for the mill should make things a little easier.

Or I suppose I can always sell the Rodney and see what I get for it.

Subject to correction, (It's sixteen years since I sold mine ) the Rodney was driven by a splined drive from the Mandrel of the Myford 7 Series.

The drive was rotated from horizontal to vertical by bevel gears at the base of the vertical column.

The spindle was 2MT with the same 1.125 x 12 tpi thread as the Myford Mandrel.

A fairly light duty device, to my mind.

Someone on here apparently made a vertical head for a Centec. Might be worth doing a search?

Another vote for selling it, they seem to fetch a decent price.

There's a couple on eBay if you want a guide price (though they're "buy it now"

They are also over priced rusty junk for an ML10 so yours should actually sell for the same money. smiley

BTW if you see a little Centec 2 with a VH buy it, it's the same fitment. Hope your 2a has the upper pulley.

I have received an email from someone about the Rodney, but can't see how to reply to him just says alerts@etcetc.

What do I need to do?

Hello, I have a Rodney Milling attachment for my Super 7. It is in really good shape, but I have one issue. I cannot get the draw bar through the spindle/quill to engage in the Morse taper tool holder. I can pass a piece of wire all of the way through though. Any thoughts as to what the restriction may be?

Best, John...

The tiny spindle bore.

I had the same issue with a Centec horizontal spindle bore not matching the arbor that it came with. I found M6 studding fitted, welded a bit of bolt that fitted the arbor to one end and made a long M6 nut for the back as studding is usually a loose tolerance.
