Good morning all,

I'm quite a young new member around these parts. At the ripe age of 19 I've quite a lot to learn from you all!

I've been drawn here after purchasing a collectors set of the model engineer magazines. This set contains every single one from 1942 through to the late eighties, and the lot only cost me £10!

I have an Emco Compact 5 lathe in my parents garage, which my Dad and I have converted into a metalworking shop. I also have an unknown brand shaper, Meddings pillar drill, and a Petter A1 stationary engine all awaiting restoration as and when I get money and parts.

As a first car I got a Volvo 740 estate which the workshop has helped to repair/refurbish some parts for as the old lady is getting worn in some parts.

Can't wait to get more involved!

Nat

Welcome, Nat, it looks like you are making a welcome early start, and forums always need young blood added to their members. You are especially lucky to have a dad who is also interested in the hobby, look after him!

Welcome Nat. Glad to see you in the forum. Youth is what we need in engineering. I hope you make the most of your shop and get into some great projects. Just ask if you find no answers using the forum search facility. Good luck and have fun.

regards

A very warm welcome!

Practical skills will always stand you in good stead.

Apart from the help and advice so freely available on here, on so many subjects, you would benefit if you can find and join a Model Engineering Club near to you.

With the equipment that you already have, a huge range of activities projects and repairs are now open to you.

Enjoy

Howard
