Hi from Staffordshire

Morning Forum,

My name is Ian, and I'm just in the process of building workshop number 2, for some machinery I'm just venturing into the world of model engineering after completing my Chiltern Model Steam Beam Engine plant, and getting a bug.

In the mean time, A CMS Vertical Marine Single is on the bench, but the first real project, hopefully, will be an S50. That probably wont be until October time when the Midlands show arrives.

I've just purchased a Warco WM14 mill, and on the look out for a small lathe... WM180, Chester DB7vs or similar... Warco and Chester's open days happen soon though

Not far indeed. I was up your way last weekend for the Claymills Steam Day. Lucky you that that is on your doorstep!

I live about three and a half miles from Claymills, and I've worked (most of My life) within a mile of the pumping station, and I am ashamed to admit I have never been! , a bit like living in Blackpool and never going up the Tower!!

but I will make the effort to go and have a look round, My good Lady has been in the past and has told Me how good it is.

I'm laid up health-wise at the moment (Faulty lubricator pump!), so any Modelling at the moment is purely visual, so the forums are a God-send.

You must go to Claymills for sure... Next steam day is on Aug Bank holiday. The place is awesome! So many steam engines about, and some historic vehicles thrown in the pot too.

I am in Kings Bromley so we are getting a few local forum members.

And if I remember correctly our esteemed editor is not too far away either.

Are you going all the way from Staffordshire to Surrey for Warcos' open day? I used to live a couple of miles from them.

Well, I was going to travel down to Warco's open day... but I've sourced my lathe! Picking up a 2nd hand Chester DB7vs on Saturday, which is the same as the Warco of course. It was a steal too.

Can't wait to get cracking!
